Rich in variety, Crete is the most southern and largest island. The people are proud, devoted to their customs and traditions, openhearted and generous in their hospitality. Cretan life is as varied as its terrain. Along the northern shores it is lively and intense. In the picturesque villages life remains simple and very close to nature. The scattered remains of passing civilizations can be found everywhere, from the Minoan palaces at Knossos with their incredible frescoes to Byzantine churches and Venetian castles. Two airports: Hania and Heraklion. Yacht provisioning facilities.

HERAKLION. The is the largest town and Capital of Crete, buzzing with activity and life Some highlights include the Archeological and the Historical Museums. Five kilometers to the south lie the not to be missed excavations at Knosses, the palace of King Minos, and the home of dreaded Minataur. Here unfolds the tale of the lovers Ariadne and Theseus. Ariadne saved her prince from the Bull of Minos (the legendary Minotaur) by giving him a long thread which he unravelled as he sought the Minotaur through the underground labyrinth, and thus was able to find his way out. Today the site has been faithfully restored and features imposing frescoes, tiled rooms and a romance of mythic proportions.
