  The Ionian Islands

Off to the west and north of the Greek mainland lies the Ionian Sea. The Venetians, French and English have all settled at one time or another among the islands leaving their customs, traditions and architecture behind. The renowned island of Skorpios, home to the Onassis Family, is located in this group.

CORFU (KERKYRA). The northernmost island in the Ionian chain, Corful boasts some of the finest modern tourist developments along its beautiful beaches. Long and narrow, shaped like a scythe, Corful is refreshing in its flower laden villages, its deep interior filled with pines, olive trees and vineyards. The town of Corfu is a canter of Byzantine and Renaissance art. Wide avenues, squares, cobblestone alleys and arches form an intriguing mosaic to explore. Airport. Yacht provisioning facilities.

KEFALONIA. The forbiddingly barren and majestic mountain chain of the Aenos traverses Kefalonia, seperating fertile valleys

from the coast, and rising above the idyllic port of Assos, an Ionian highlight. The rocks of the coast are pierced by deep subterranean tunnels and dotted with warm, sandy beaches. Airport. Yacht provisioning facilities.

ZAKYNTHOS (ZANTE). "Beatiful Zakynthosalone possesses me" sings on modern Greek poet, with reason. Tavernas along the waterfront echo madoline serenades, as strolling musicians and waiters alike break into song along the hour of midnight, when summer days cool and stars gleam romantically overhead. Airport. Yacht   provisioning facilities.

ITHACA. According to Homer, Ithaca is the native Island of the resourceful Odysseus. Indeed, the great German archeologist, Schliemann, quite convincingly - but erroneosly - identified the summit of Mount Aetos as the site of Odsseus' palace.Yacht provisioning facilities.
